Are cults a hidden epidemic? Great interview...
by StarTrekAngel inhere is a great interview from 2013 between various cult ex members and experts, including mr hassan.
one thing i was surprised to hear is that the word cult is now considered "politically incorrect".
someone mentioned this on another thread and i made the comment that i suspected cults themselves had something to do with it.

Signs of cults definately isolate members from outsiders. They tell you who you can associate with, what you can listen to, what you can wear, how to groom yourself. It's those who are inside which fail to see they are in a cult, denial. -

Don't let that Borg mind set fear you. There probably is no Armageddon. At least not by how the JW's proclaim it. -

Double Standards in the JW world
by nevaagain inno other organization has so many written and unwritten rules like the jws.
so it comes to no suprise that there are a lot of double standards.. even though the end is "near", wt is building new and bigger offices.
while the small jw should live in a closet and should make plans to have a bigger house in the new world.

There is no shortage of hypocrisy in the Borg. People who are perceived to be well-off or have money are treated well and not harassed. -

How was it when you were a JW as a kid?
by nevaagain inwhats worse than being an adult jw?
when i was a kid i always had a bad concience all the time.
i believed i would not survive armageddon for the fact that i didn't like going to service and i didnt like going to the meetings.

Just terrible memories growing up in the Borg. Especially when it came to the holiday season. Being left out of everything the class did or being told who you could or could not befriend.
On top of that were those horrible, hateful, dreadful magazines and books. Those images of people being burned alive at the big 'A'. Images of the ground swallowing people up by the dozens, fear-mongering conventions. Just terrible, terrible things for a child to endure at such a young age. Terrible childhoods of the people in the Borg.

You can also add the fact that
6) Alienating members from any friends/association outside of their group
7) Not allowed to marry outside of their group.
But I guess you could say that the above 2 would categorize as ''polarizing of members'' in a way.

Very disturbing, and unfortunate that people have to resort to violence against the JW's. Terrible. -

Today's watchtower: obey us, no matter what
by Tornintwo intoday's watchtower:.
obey us, obey us even when it seems strange, obeying our man made hierarchy equates to obeying god, sacrifice your own interests, work for us, don't be independent, put your own interests aside, obey some more, preach for us, build for us, enjoy it, obey some more, forgive when we are jerks to you and mistreat you, accept your changed assignment even if it seems cruel and doesn't make sense, don't complain if we move you (eg.
) because you might have to move in the new world, remember you are being trained to obey, remember to put your own interests aside, that's the way we are designed to live - it will only make you happy!

I'm sure.....that there are more than you think that the rank and file may be wondering something like ''what's up with all the WT's on obey, obey''. Some of the rank and file may be beginning to get paranoid. -

1. in-group/out-group bias.
2. demanding unquestioning obedience to authority.

Another thing worth mentioning is making the followers feel unique in some way, manipulation. Without the followers even thinking about that too.
